Air safety investigators are about to recommend new safety guidelines for Boeing 777s,

Posted in avianews by avianews on April 28, 2008

According to the Wall Street Journal, air safety investigators are about to recommend new safety guidelines for Boeing 777s, after a crash near London earlier this year. The Boeing jet had travelled from China to UK with unusual cold outside temperature, and some ice had formed in part of the fuel system. Therefore, investigators may warn pilots and operators of B777 jets to take extra precautions when monitoring fuel temperature in polar flights. Recommendations could be issued within the next few weeks. But the paper reports that there is consensus missing about advising to make the Boeing jets’ fuel systems more resistant, and this could harm relations between the US plane maker and engine firm Rolls- Royce. A new strike day at Airbus is on its way tomorrow:

Posted in avianews by avianews on April 28, 2008

workers and executives do not accept that EADS is keeping German sites within its perimeter and still wants to proceed with the sale of French sites, such as Meaulte and Saint-Nazaire. Representatives will meet Fabrice Bregier. Jean-Francois Knepper, from French union Force Ouvriere, said Mr. Bregier would give his feeling about the ongoing crisis, would listen to unions’ claims and would give answers. In the meantime, Thomas Enders firmly said that he was not impressed by the strike, and that statement was not appreciated by Airbus unions. They have warned that, unless Fabrice Bregier gives signs of open-mindedness, the strike will get tougher. Although EADS keeps saying that the sale of German sites will go on, French unions do not believe it.
