German Chancellor Angela Merkel ended a visit to Mexico

German Chancellor Angela Merkel ended a visit to Mexico by voicing support to the idea of EADS transferring production to the Central American country, reports Negocio. After an official tour of Latin American countries –Brazil, Colombia, Peru-, Ms Merkel stopped in Mexico, where she delivered a speech in front of the President. She declared that Germany counted “major companies like Siemens, EADS and others in the infrastructure sector” and that she wished strengthened economic cooperation with Mexico. In this regards, EADS is preparing to establish activities in the country, reports Negocio, claiming the group’s management has been in negotiations with the Mexican state of Queretaro, where an aerospace centre of excellence has been set up. The Spanish newspaper says that the transfer of work to Mexico from the part of some of EADS’s subsidiaries –in particular Airbusis part of the priorities set by Louis Gallois’s Vision 2020 strategic plan.
