Airbus and Boeing are not expected to produce new single-aisle aircraft until 2020
Airbus and Boeing are not expected to produce new single-aisle aircraft until 2020, said Steven Udvar-Hazy, CEO of US aircraft leasing group ILFC. In an interview on the sidelines of the IATA conference in Istanbul, Mr Udvar-Hazy said “neither is in a position to launch a single-aisle programme”, contrary to the expectations of many experts. According to him, the two plane makers are too busy solving issues with their delayed wide-body plane programmes. “The complexity of the A380, the A350 and the 787 are just starting to be awoken to” by Airbus and Boeing.
