The French and Germans at Airbus are “together, yet separated”, writes Suddeutsche Zeitung. The atmosphere among employees at the French Airbus plants in Saint-Martin-du- Touch and Blagnac is not the best, indeed. One French employee says that although German and French workers build the Airbus A380 together, they avoid each other. One of the main problems is the internal communication. Neither the French nor the German employees know how many Germans will come to the French plants and how long they will stay, notes the newspaper. In addition to the fact that the Germans make up for the majority of the workers, the different working cultures and especially the different wages also cause trouble, it adds. The Germans receive 40% more due to the posting allowance. According to French trade union CGT, the FO union and the factories’ managements stir up resentments against the Germans.
