All Nippon Airways considers buying the Airbus A380
All Nippon Airways considers buying the Airbus A380. ANA’s chief executive confirmed on Monday that the second-largest Japanese airline was considering acquiring the Airbus A380. A bid call could be kicked off in the next few days, also involving Boeing and its future extended 747 version. ANA could order between 5 and 10 big-size aircraft to replace its last 747-400s by 2012. Les Echos says Airbus, who only holds a 4% share of the Nippon market, would score a true victory if it was awarded this contract. But Boeing will certainly fight back as it needs to win new orders for its 747-8, the passenger version of which has only seduced one customer so far. Les Echos
