Louis Gallois briefed trade unions on the progress of the Power 8 job-cutting programme during a European works council. He said Airbus had already axed 1,806 jobs as part of its restructuring plan out of the targeted 4,419 job cuts, which represents 41% of its goal through 2010. Still, Frederic Agenet, director of human resources for France at EADS, said the plane maker would see its work force rise by about 1,500 new employees in 2008. In the detail, Airbus has cut 608 jobs in France so far, excluding its headquarters in Toulouse, and 331 in Germany. Hence, Airbus France achieved 41% of its job-cut target, compared with 23% for Airbus Deutschland, says Reuters, citing company documents.
