Mexico has several assets to become a major global aerospace platform, analyses French magazine Commerce International. First, the South American country is a member of the North American Free-Trade Agreement. Besides, it is based in the dollar area as the peso is tied to the US currency. As euro keeps rising to the dollar, Mexico’s location is of particular interest to such companies as EADS or Dassault Aviation. Finally, the Mexican work force represents cheap labour, which attracts North American manufacturers such as Bombardier. The aeronautics sector already employs 20,000 people in Mexico. In 2007, the country registered $ 400M worth of aerospace exports. Commerce International
