Airbus has selected Swiss logistics services group Kuehne+Nagel and German transport company DHL as “first-rank partners”. The plane maker will enforce a new logistics organisation from September 1 and plans to regroup all its local installations into regional platforms –in Germany (Hamburg), France (Toulouse, Nantes-St Nazaire), Spain (Madrid, Puerto Real) and the UK (Broughton)- by 2010. These ‘hubs’ will be fully managed and operated by Kuehne+Nagel, while DHL will set up a new transport management system and streamline the transport of components between suppliers and Airbus’s production sites.
