The US Air Force said yesterday that it had not asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to reconsider its ruling on the tanker contract. According to defence analyst Jim McAleese, this decision not to appeal to the GAO means the service will follow its recommendation of a reopening of the bidding process. The USAF technically has 60 days to respond to the GAO but defence officials and analysts say they expect a decision much sooner, possibly within two weeks, according to Reuters.
