Airbus is expected to win a contract to supply five A380 superjumbos to All Nippon Airways (ANA)
Japanese business daily Nikkei reported that Airbus is expected to win a contract to supply five A380 superjumbos to All Nippon Airways (ANA). A sale in Japan would be a major breakthrough for the European plane maker, which currently has only about 4% of the Japanese market. An ANA spokesman, however, said no decision has been made, adding that the airline had set up a committee to examine three options –the A380, Boeing’s B747- 800, or not acquiring a new fleet at all. He acknowledged that the A380 had several advantages as surging fuel prices pressured global airlines. Reuters (03/07)
