China has completed the construction of the first unit of its MA 600 turboprop, an improved version of the MA 60,china-2 with which it aims to challenge Bombardier or ATR, reported the local media. The ‘Modern Ark 600’ (MA 600) is a 60-seat aircraft, lighter than the 50- to 60-seat MA 60. (more…)

Airbus will start assembly of A320 aircraft at its Chinese plant in August, said Laurence Barron, head of Airbus’s operations in China. a320-2Deliveries of the planes made at the Tianjin factory are on schedule to start in mid-2009, he added. Mr Barron admitted that building the aircraft in China will cost more than in Europe, but the aircraft made there will be sold at the same list prices as the planes assembled elsewhere. (more…)

China officially set up a new aeronautical manufacturer –called Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China- which ambitions to china-1develop a 150-seat aircraft by 2020. The Chinese State, which thus wants to reduce its dependence on Boeing and Airbus, will be the new group’s main shareholder, with a 30 % stake, and manufacturers Avic I and Avic II are expected to take a stake. Les Echos adds the new entity’s capital could also be opened to foreign investors, within the framework of industrial alliances. Airbus calls on Chinese partners to join efforts for a green aviation industry

Airbus called on its partners and suppliers, as well as other key players in the Chinese aviation industry, to share its vision of a green aviation industry and to join in its efforts to makegreenchina aviation an eco-efficient industry. The appeal was made at a conference on aviation eco-efficiency, which was held yesterday in Beijing.Addressing the China Eco-efficiency Conference, which was attended by Chinese government officials and representatives of airlines, Rainer Ohler, Airbus Senior Vice President Public Affairs and Communications, said that a green industry must be the vision for the future of aviation and joint efforts are needed to make aviation an eco-efficient industry – which means growing and creating value with less environmental impact. The French company last week inaugurated three new facilities in China. In parallel, it focuses on improving its industrial base in France. It will regroup its precision mechanics activities – currently scattered among three sites- within new premises to be built shortly in Mantes-La-Jolie, near Paris. The Chinese authorities recently announced that the newly-established Import and Export National Corporation would start delivering the new ARJ21 regional jet manufactured by Avic I and Avic II in the first quarter of 2009.
